SOL Overview
SOLs are fast approaching. Below are our planned testing days for our virtual and in-person students.
Students should bring their charged FCPS laptop, a pencil, and a book to read to all testing sessions. If a student did not receive an FCPS device this year, a laptop will be supplied the day of testing. All electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc…) will need to be turned off and stored in a bag or turned in to the teacher in the room.
As we get closer to the testing dates, we will be communicating changes to our bell schedule and bus transportation information.
SOL Testing Laptop Preparation
With SOL testing coming up we need to make sure all laptops have received all their updates and they have the newest version of TestNav. TestNav is the software needed for SOL testing. To do this we need you to do the following:
- Make sure your FCPS issued laptop is turned on, connected to the internet, and restarted every day. Please follow instructions for restarting laptops given in Learning Seminar. DO NOT just push the power button!
- Check to make sure you have the correct version of TestNav - Directions Here (you must be logged into your @fcpsschools.net account to access this site)
- Install the newest version of TestNav – Directions Here (you must be logged into your @fcpsschools.net account to access this site)
- Take your laptop to any Fairfax school. You can access the Fairfax Wi-Fi from outside the school. This is not required but a great way to get necessary updates to the laptop. At the school:
- Log on to the laptop and connect to the “Fairfax” Wifi
- Restart the laptop. Select Windows button -> Select Power Button -> Select Restart
- Spend 5-10 minutes accessing Schoology, Google Apps, etc.
- Restart one more time before leaving the school.
Technology Support
Students needing technology support should continue to:
- Restart your computer - this solves many basic issues.
- Contact your teacher for support.
- Try these:
- Twain Student Support Site (you must be logged into your @fcpsschools.net account to access this site)
- Self Help Guides - https://www.fcps.edu/return-school/technology-support-familie
- Call Help Desk: 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS)
