Mark Twain Middle School has been selected by the Military Student Support Process Action team (MSSPAT) for the Purple Star Designation Award for the 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025 school years.

This designation has been awarded to MTMS and could not have been earned without the support of our community and staff along with members of the MTMS Military Support Team led by Sara Joy Lebowitz. The MTMS Military Support Team supports all military-connected students by providing resources as they transfer to the MTMS community.

As a recipient, MTMS received a certificate of recognition along with an award coin. The Purple Star logo is approved for use by each designated school in order to draw more attention to the school and to this distinction.  One member of the MSSPAT review team mentioned that "the artifacts presented [in the application] enabled the reviewer to obtain a strong sense of the hard work occurring at the school."
