VIP Summer Camp for Rising 7th and Rising 8th graders

The VIP Summer Program will be held in-person at Sandburg Middle School this summer!  Rising 7th and rising 8th graders residing in Fairfax County in boundaries for the Twain, Key, Sandburg, and Hayfield middle schools are invited to register.

Program Details:
Mondays - Fridays, 9 am - 4 pm (site is available at 8 am for drop-offs)
Monday, July 1 - Thursday, August 1 (no camp on July 4 and 5)

Space in VIP is limited.  Though timing of registration is a factor, it is not solely a first come, first serve acceptance process.  We consider a variety of factors when processing applications to provide a balanced camp (such as, but not limited to: number of participants per middle school, grade level, registration timing, participant availability, etc.).  An email notification of acceptance status will be sent by May 1st.  Program paperwork and payment procedures will be reviewed in the email of acceptance.   All camp paperwork and payments will be due by May 17th .  We will offer rolling admission from a waitlist as campers drop out or fail to enroll.  You will be notified as space becomes available.

VIP camp costs $100 to attend (scholarships are available in cases of financial hardship - reach out to your school's After-School Specialist).  Families will be notified about payment procedures in their acceptance email.  All payments will be accepted from April 1st  until May 24th.  Participants who have not paid by that time will be removed from the list and we will offer the spot to the next student on our waitlist.

Field Trips - We will take approximately 4 - 5 field trips throughout the summer.  There is a cost for students to attend the field trips.  The field trip fees will cover admission costs and bus transportation.  Field trip information (dates, locations, and fees) will be available by the parent meeting on Tuesday, June 11th.  The field trip fees need to be paid for in cash or through MySchoolBucks.  Fees will be collected in advance and will not be accepted the day of the trip.  To maintain safe staff to student ratios, we will send all staff members on the field trips and none will remain at the VIP site.  If your student chooses not to attend a field trip, please make alternate plans as sites will be closed that day.  Please speak with your After-School Specialist if financial assistance is required.

Review the VIP Registration documents with all policies and procedures prior to completing this registration form.  The registration document is posted on the after-school sections of the middle school website and was also linked in your child's schools News You Choose message.

There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Tuesday, June 11th,  at 6 pm.  We will review all camp activities, field trips, procedures, and introduce some of our camp staff.  The meeting will be held in person at the Sandburg cafeteria. Slides will also be sent out after the meeting.

Participants should plan on bringing the following to camp every day:
o  Bagged lunch - we will be providing lunch as well for students who need this option
o  Snacks (optional)
o  Water bottle (Label with your child’s full name)
o  Hand sanitizer (optional)
